Time sure flies! In 2013 I shared a quilt block tutorial for the Crossroads quilt block in 3 different sizes which has always been a very popular post.
I wanted to update the post and add a couple images for Pinterest but I have searched and searched on my hard drive but can’t find all of the original photos. Next best thing to do – make the block again!
I thought it would be good to just create a new post for just one size of block right now.
6″ Crossroads Quilt Block
6 inches is the finished size of the block and the unfinished size is 6½”.Do you have a box of scraps? The box below is batiks that are less than 2½” wide. I don’t get in this that much as I also have separate containers of assorted sizes already cut but for this block I needed 1½” x 2½” rectangles. I also had a small container of premium muslin scraps that I used for my 2½” squares.
- Cut 4 – 2½” x 2½” muslin squares.
- Cut 10 – 1½” x 2½” rectangles of assorted colors.
Piecing and Sewing:
- Sew with a ¼” seam allowance, press to the dark fabric.
- Lay out your pieces using the following diagram.
Start sewing the sections together following the diagrams.
Here is your finished Crossroads quilt block.
Here is the original Crossroads quilt block tutorial that is for all three sizes. I have to update that also as I think my printable graphic has disappeared. Let me know if you like quilt block tutorials! If enough quilters like them I’ll do more!
