Pineapple quilted table runner
16″ x 46″
Have you ever made the pineapple quilt block? It is so beautiful and perfect for table runners, quilts or wall hangings.
I had some batiks in my stash in teals that I thought would be perfect for a long table runner to put on our kitchen island. I made four of the 10″ blocks and added a 3 inch border to make it a little wider.
There are special rulers that you can use to make the Pineapple block or you can make it by paper piecing. I have done both in the past. Both techniques take time.
Take a look at the Pineapple die, doesn’t that look like an easy way to cut out your fabrics! The nice thing about working with most batiks is that you don’t have to worry about the right side and wrong side of the fabrics.
Otherwise you would just want to make sure to place all of your fabric pieces right side up on the die.
At first I thought about making a wall hanging placing the blocks in a 2 x 2 pattern. Can you imagine how beautiful a bed quilt would be!
I used a thicker batting, I think wool and have some slight bows on the sides of my tablerunner. I should have pressed them out before I took my photos.
Just a little peek at our skinny Christmas tree and decorations!
