Spinning Star Tablerunner
12″ x 26″
Happy 4th of July! I finished up my Spinning Stars tablerunner just in time to use it today. If you missed the tutorial for the Spinning Star block tutorial be sure and check it out. I’ll be updating it tomorrow as many of you would like the measurements for other sizes of blocks.
I made two of the Spinning Star quilt blocks that were 12½” x 12½” and then added a 2½ x 12 ½” sashing strip between them. The tablerunner finished at 12″ x 26″ – perfect for a small table.
I did a simple free-motion quilting of lines. I didn’t mark anything so some of the lines look like I was quilting and drinking wine at the same time! I used a cream Aurifil thread and did not quilting on the stars.
Last night we watched fireworks at our neighbor’s house and tonight we’ll watch more at another neighbor’s place. Lots of good food, friends and fireworks!
I was looking for a tablerunner the other day (never did find it) and I came across several other quilt projects I have done in the past for the 4th of July and brought them out on the deck so I could take a picture.
Okay, these aren’t technically for the 4th of July but I wanted to pull them out because this block is becoming popular again. I think I made these in 2012. Might have to write up a tutorial.I put both of these with the new Spinning Star Tablerunner. I had completely forgotten about the little folded star pinwheel flag quilt! My points aren’t perfect but it is still cute.
More oldies, I can tell because this was a period when I was using all of my old fabrics. Most of these came from my stash that I used when I was doing crafts shows…..a long time ago!
This little one is a favorite of mine. It is one of my first Island Batik Ambassador projects for Quilts of Valor. When I saw this piece I knew I wanted to do a tutorial on the Spinning Star block. The blocks in this one are only 3 inches and place on the diagonal.Did you see anything that you would be interested in seeing a tutorial on? Please let me know in the comments.
Almost forgot this one! This is a little red, white and blue mini runner made from strings. I knew I’ll be sharing more on this as I’ve been updating my String quilt tutorials. If you visit the Batik String Summer Tablerunner Tutorial you’ll even find a new free printable!
