Mini Tablerunner for Independence Day
Yesterday I shared several quilt projects that I have done that are perfect for the 4th of July or Independence Day. This little mini table runner or table mat is so fast and easy to make! I had forgotten about it until I went through my quilt stash and found it.
This is a very simple quilt project to make and just uses just one charm square pack. You’ll also need fabric for the binding and backing. I originally shared this post in July of 2012, it is hard to believe that 6 years have gone by! I have updated it with some new photos and info.
If you decide to make this, you’ll have enough blocks for a bigger tablerunner. I used a 2½” x 5″ charm pack, I don’t think these are available anymore.
Take your charm squares and cut each piece into 1¼” x 5″ strips.
Sew them together in groups of 6.
Trim the pieces to 4¼” squares.
I don’t have any photos of the blocks but for this mini tablerunner before I quilted it.
I made it 4 blocks by 3 blocks and used 72 pieces, you could make this any size you want just by adding more fabrics.
I used a 2.25 inch binding that came from my oldies stash and did a little free motion wiggle quilting on it. The dark blue fabric matched perfectly.
The mini tablerunner matches my little basket perfectly.
This was a fast project and could also be a great way to use up scraps from your stash. I hope you have enjoyed the 4th of July Table Topper tutorial.
