I had a few blocks left from my Diamond Maze quilt and I decided to make a Diamond Maze table topper out of them that will look perfect on our table this summer.
Most of the time I will use my extra blocks for a pillow but I had some large pieces of the beautiful batik sunflower print and I really wanted to make something that showed off that print.
We had snow, sleet and high winds last week and a Illinois buoy came loose and drifted over to the Iowa side of the Mississippi river. This happens a lot during the winter and it won’t be long before it will be picked up. We saw our first barge and tows the other day…..a definite sign that Spring is on the way!
I had 4 extra blocks, the Diamond Maze quilt won’t come home until next year and I always try and make a couple extra blocks to have on hand.
I thought about setting the blocks on the diagonal.
I added a border around the blocks.
Then I added another border.
The large strips of the neat sunflower batik fabric leftover from my Diamond Maze quilt and thought it would be fun to make a large bold table topper. I can’t wait to use this out on our deck this summer.
Now I will have a beautiful Diamond Maze table topper that will match my quilt.
Read more about the Diamond Maze quilt. I used all of these colors of Aurifil thread when I did the free-motion quilting. I also used the cone of white Aurifil for all of the piecing on my Diamond Maze table topper and quilt. The Aurifil cone has 6,462 yards of 50wt thread and lasts forever.
