Hand Stitching wool

If you have been following my blog for some time you will be completely surprised to know that I have been doing some hand-stitching! I’m not very good at it but that is okay, I forgot how relaxing hand-stitching can be.

This was a kit that I bought several years ago, I think I remember entering a contest and when I didn’t win the kit…..I bought it. It has sat in a box waiting patiently for me to play with it.

I have been spending a lot of time on our deck with my dad and really needed something to work on….this was the perfect project. It is almost done!

The AccuQuilt contest is over and I didn’t win (thanks for the votes) but I am making my block in batiks from Island Batik. This project won’t be done for a bit.

dad getting help from my brothers to go on his last boat ride

Dad is getting weaker every day and we all got together so dad could have one last boat ride. It was a family affair getting him down the steps from our house, onto the gator, and moving him carefully down the dock to the boat.

It was so neat to see everyone carefully helping him.

All six of his children were with him on his last voyage. We grew up house-boating with mom and dad and all of us still love the river.

  23. Connie, your hand stitching project looks great. I’m not much for hand stitching, but it’s nice to have something to work on when you just need to sit quietly. I think it is wonderful that your dad got to take another boat ride and especially with all of his children. These are the memories that will be treasured for years to come. I love the photograph of all of you together.
