I’m taking part in the Jolly Bar Book – Vol 1 QAL with Fat Quarter Shop.I recently received this fun book called The Jolly Bar Book Vol. 1 from Fat Quarter Shop and there are 20 cute baby quilts in this book that are made with only one Jolly Bar. Not sure what a Jolly Bar is? It is a precut collection that is 5″ x 10″.
Fat Quarter Shop has all kinds of Jolly Bars, I chose the Brighten Up! precut from Me & My Sister Designs. I used white muslin for my additional 40 squares and picked the pattern Bird’s Eye View for the quilt I wanted to make.
It took no time at all to make the quilt and each pattern in the book is shown in full color.
Do you have some Layer Cakes sitting around? This would be perfect for the patterns in the book. I think when I make another one of the quilts I might do that as I’m not crazy about using some of the lighter colored fabrics along with my solid fabric.
I did a large free motion quilting swirl on it so the quilt would stay nice and soft. I also used a cotton/poly batting.Isn’t this the cutest little tin! There are 6 different colors and you can find them at the Fat Quarter Shop.I didn’t have much in the way of scraps when I was finished with the Bird’s Eye View quilt. I used my Creative Grids ruler to square up some 3 ½” half square triangles. I will use them for another project as I never want to waste any of the cute fabrics from Me & My Sister Designs. Be sure and visit the Jolly Jabber and all of the other blogs that are showing quilts made with the The Jolly Bar Book Vol. 1.
