Hi everyone, it is Connie from Freemotion by the River and today I have a fast and easy Serendipity Flower Basket Mini Quilt made with the AccuQuilt GO! Qube Specialty Set called Serendipity by Edyta Sitar. I do a monthly blog post on AccuQuilt’s blog and recently received this neat Qube Specialty Set. It includes 8 different dies and I am going to have so much fun making small quilt projects with it.
It also includes files for embroidery machines, I don’t have one of those but sure wish I did! In the meantime I will continue to do my free motion applique on my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine.

GO! Cutting Dies:
I had a batik layer cake from Island Batik that I thought would make a perfect background for my mini quilt and wanted to just share how I cut the squares from the 10 inch batik blocks. It is really neat how you have very little waste and get perfect squares each time.
Take a 10 inch square and fold it in half, then fold in half again.
Place over the top of the #550479 Square die. You will cut four – 2 13/16″ squares at a time.
It is always nice to have helpers when cutting out the accents and flowers. My granddaughters always enjoy coming over and helping me with AccuQuilt projects. I cut some 5 inch strips of batiks and added fusible webbing to them so the girls could cut out the flowers.
They always enjoy spending time in my new quilt studio. Last month I shared my Fabulous Quilt Studio on AccuQuilt’s blog, be sure and check it out if you missed it.
They even cut out butterflies for another project! They really enjoyed the day in my quilt studio! We also painted some t-shirts and my oldest granddaughter started sewing….more on that later.
Sometimes it is hard to get them to stop! I have enough flowers and leaves for my next project or two!
I used 4 different dies to make my Specialty Flower Basket Mini Quilt, there are 4 more dies included in the set!
All of my applique was done with my vintage 15-91 Singer and a darning foot. This really makes fast work of applique.
I hope you have enjoyed this fast and easy Serendipity Flower Basket Mini Quilt.
