Yesterday was another beautiful day and I spent most of it power washing our deck. My plan is to actually get it sealed this summer. That was supposed to happen last year…..and didn’t. I have the front all done and one third of the huge deck facing the river. After I finished that I remembered I wanted to take a couple new photos of my Summer Flowers pattern before it gets shipped off Monday.
I was also busy getting a bunch of patterns ready to send off too. My Scattered quilt is also doing a little traveling.
I really enjoy making applique flowers out of batik fabrics.
Summer Flowers is a 44″ x 60″ inch quilt that combines string piecing and flower applique.
There are 8 different full size flowers in my pattern.
I did raw-edge applique and actually did free-motion quilting for my applique. Aurifil thread is perfect for the applique.

I asked if others used placemats and it was interesting to see that about half of you do and the other half don’t. I have always had a oak table so……it is necessary to use placemats to protect the wood. That is why you will always see me making them.
