It always seems funny to me to start working on Holiday projects when it is almost 100 degrees outside but if I don’t…….Christmas seems to be here before I know it!
This month the Island Batik ambassadors are working on all kinds of neat Christmas projects and quilts! This was a quick little project that I finished the other day…..actually….I worked on two projects at once. I’ll share the other one soon.
My plan when I made the blocks was to do some detailed free motion quilting with some variegated thread called Fantastico from Superior Threads. The thread is beautiful but I haven’t figured out how I would like to use it. I started doing some stipple quilting on my other project and didn’t care for it so…….I spent a little time out on the deck picking out stitches.
The plan for fancy quilting got vetoed and I decided the blocks needed something extra so I used a fancy blade in my rotary cutter and cut some strips of fabric to add to the design. I did some free motion applique to apply the strips and then quilted both projects with a neutral thread.
I know I have mentioned this many, many times but I really love being a ambassador for Island Batik. Their fabrics are beautiful and I never seem to get tired of working with them!
We worked with the Holiday Happenings group of batiks from Island Batik for the Christmas In July projects.
I plan on doing a tutorial soon on this table runner.
Pinterest likes long vertical images so I always try and add one to my post, feel free to pin this!
