I couldn’t resist taking part in the QAL called Maggie’s First Dance by Jacquelynne Steves. It has just started and you will want to take part in it as her work is always so beautiful! This is a FREE quilt along and here is the first block.I first met Jacquelynne several years ago when I got to work with her cute Happy Town fabric line.
I have some beautiful batiks from the Desert Rose collection from Island Batik that came out last year and that is what I’m going to use for my blocks.Hopscotch is the pattern I designed to use these beautiful batiks. Be sure and check out all of my patterns. The instructions for the first block of Maggie’s First Dance were very easy to follow. I ended up doing my applique after I pieced the block instead of doing it first.
Naturally, I did all of my applique on my 15-91 vintage Singer sewing machine which is just a straight stitch machine. I used my darning foot/freemotion foot and just did a little wiggle stitching around the applique pieces.
