Harrison Rose Table Runner Tutorial

Either would be perfect for a Spring or Summer table setting! Our weather here in Iowa has been chilly all week…..I am ready for warm weather and working out in the yard.
Creating a table runner with applique flowers is a perfect way to bring springtime into your house and either of these beautiful quilt projects would be perfect.
If you would like to make just one quilt block, you could have a small table topper to use.
If you would like a bigger quilt project, then this table runner will be a show stopper.
One of my favorite ways to applique is with a free motion quilting foot on my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine. I just do a little wiggle stitch around each piece. I changed the color of the thread to match each fabric that I used for the applique.
I used my AccuQuilt cutter and dies to make both of these quilt projects.
For this design, I used the 12 inch Churn Dash AccuQuilt GO! die and the Harrison Rose applique die by Eleanor Burns. The table runner is approximately 12′ x 36″ and the centerpiece is a 12″ square.
Supplies:
- 55500 GO! Big Electric Cutter
- 55403 GO! Harrison Rose by Eleanor Burns
- 55459 GO! Big Churn Dash 12″ Finished
Harrison Rose Table Runner
Table Runner 12″ x 36″
Materials Needed:
- Pink for large flowers – fat quarter (applique)
- Dark pink for circle – fat quarter (applique)
- Print for center pieces – fat quarter (applique)
- Green for leaves – fat quarter (applique)
- Cream prints – 4 or 5 fat quarters for the blocks
- Green – 1/4 yard for binding
- 1/2 yard for backing
- 1/2 yard batting
- 1 yard fusible Heat n Bond Lite
- Threads to match your applique pieces
Cutting Instructions for the table runner:
Follow the directions on the fusible web that you bought and iron it to the wrong side of the fabrics for the flowers.
Applique pieces:
- Cut 3 of the large flowers
- Cut 3 of the large circles
- Cut 3 of the center diamond shape (I only used one of the designs)
- Cut 24 of the green triangles
Churn Dash Block: Use assorted cream fabrics
You can also make the Churn Dash quilt blocks without using dies. Learn how to make the 12-inch Churn Dash block in this tutorial.
Make (3) Churn Dash blocks – follow the directions on the die for the best cutting results.
For the table runner cut:
- 3 center squares
- 24 rectangles
- 24 half square triangles
Use the following diagrams to lay out the pieces of the blocks and piece using an ¼-inch seam allowance.
Sew the pieces together and lay out your rows.
Here is the finished block which measures 12½-inches square. Make 3 for the table runner.
Fuse and machine applique the Harrison Rose pieces to the Churn Dash blocks. I used Heat n Bond Lite, follow their directions for fusing to the fabrics.
It has been a while since I did any free motion appliqueing and I really enjoyed using my vintage sewing machine. It doesn’t have a zigzag stitch, it only does straight stitch but that never stops me from doing applique.
After you have appliqued your blocks, join the 3 blocks together for your table runner.
Add your batting and quilt as desired. Trim and add your binding.

Cutting Instructions for the table topper:
Applique pieces:
- Cut 1 of the large flower
- Cut 1of the large circles
- Cut 1 of the center diamond shape (I only used one of the designs)
- Cut 8 of the green triangles
Churn Dash Block:
- 1 center square
- 8 rectangles
- 8 half square triangles
Add your batting and quilt as desired. Trim and add your binding.

Connie you usually have Accuquilt directions and templates for your designs. Is this only Accuquilt? Of the 76+ dies I own, I don’t have either one. I do have the 8 inch turndash because I have the 8 inch cube.
