The Island Batik blog hop Planes, Trains & Automobiles continues today. My post for the blog hop will be tomorrow but I couldn’t resist showing a few things that I have made with the beautiful French Roasted collection that will be shown today on the blogs listed below.

French Roasted Scattered Quilt

Many of the ambassadors received a bundle of these fabrics to make paper-pieced Celestial Star blocks for a quilt that was given to designer Kathy Engle. I also made a practice block first celestial star block.

I also made a table runner for my AccuQuilt guest post last month and did a tutorial on it, you can find theRoasted Coffee table runner tutorial.

The night before last, I was talking to someone about my mini Scattered and I made a couple test blocks…..then a few more…..and then it was a challenge to see if I had enough of the collection left to make the mini quilt. I did and yesterday I got it all quilted.

I had just a little bit left so I made up a couple blocks with them and the rest was cut up into 1 1/2, 2 or 2 1/2 inch scrap blocks.

Here is the mini quilt and table runner out on the deck.

I had to take a picture of Iggy keeping warm with a new quilt. You can barely see all the geese sitting out on the ice……I’m ready for Spring!

I just love the stained glass look of your quilt. The fabrics and colours are wonderful. I can just sit and look and look and look at it!

Love the new fabric line – those are my favorite colors.
I like your practice block and this one. Paper Piecing is on the table for DJ, but I am not there yet. I am not sure why I do not like that technique, but maybe with DJ I can perfect it and it will be fine. I have made 8 blocks of DJ last year for practice, but did not use Paper Piecing.

  6. Beautiful colors…..makes my fingers itch,..to do something in those colors!

  10. Hey stranger! Yes, I'm still alive. I have to say that each time you show your Scattered pattern, I say I like that one the most, but using the French Roast collection really is near the top. I think it may be tough to bypass my favorite with the purples, blues and I think it was some lime greens in that one, but this is possibly a tie with that one. Love these colors in the runner.

You sure have been busy lately. Look at all those things you have been doing. I'm still so jealous of that sewing room of yours. I'll get over it though and just know you sure deserve it with the amount of quilting and other things you do so much. I'm sure you are still just loving it every single time you walk into that room.

  11. My favorite color combination. Black make it even more beautiful.
