Last week when I went to my daughter’s to watch the grandchildren for a
couple days I had unlimited high-speed internet which I took advantage
of. Living in the country means no streaming video or Netflix.
Long time followers know that I’m not a cook……but I get updates on Jaden’s Steamy Kitchen which has great Asian recipes that I give to Builder Bob. She talked about doing a juice diet with her husbands following Reboot with Joe and I checked out the link and watched a 90 minute movie for free called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. If you have time, watch it! The link will take you to his website and you can watch it for free, there are other places that charge for it. There is also a ton of information for free on his site.
So…….I watched it and decided I wanted to try it. I have a terrible addiction to corn curls, potato chips, popcorn and lately every time I sit down I am munching….even when I’m not hungry so I wanted to try something. I made my list of all the vegetables and fruits I needed and also bought a Juicer that cost around $65 at Walmart. You also drink 16oz of coconut water every day. I was going to do it for 3 days but I ended up going for 5 days. I had to give up coffee, wine and of course my corn curls but I did it.
Here is what I fixed yesterday morning.
Here you can see that half of it has already been juiced. The left side is the pulp which can be saved or thrown away.
You are supposed to drink 16 oz each time and I really should have filled my bottles to the top but I knew I would be drinking it fairly soon. The pulp which is the fiber I am freezing. You can add it as filler in recipes or make dog treats with it.
I have no idea how to take a decent selfie but at least you can see that I’m really drinking it. I will tell you that at first it tasted terrible. I figured out I don’t like ginger root but I’m still adding it and I’m getting used to the taste. The same thing with the coconut water…..at first yuck! Now I like it.
I feel good and I want to continue juicing at least once a day and cut down on processed foods. I hope to be a little bit more aware of what I am eating and if it is good for me. I did have headaches the first day from caffeine withdrawal, thank goodness it only lasted one day. I had my first cup of coffee yesterday. I can’t wait for fresh veggies at our Farmers Market. My daughter has diabetes and there have been great results for people with that; also Joe Cross was suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease and isn’t anymore.
You don’t have to buy anything from him, there is plenty of info on his website and this impressed me as most of the time you get a little info and then you have to buy, buy, buy. I will admit that I love books so I did pick up a couple from Amazon.
I don’t mean to sound like a infomercial but I wanted all the info on this page so I can share it with my daughter and others. I am still wearing my FitBit for my daily steps but I haven’t been doing as much exercise. Time to start up again.
Have you ever done a Juice Diet?
