Tree Bird Blog Hop and a Giveaway!

Thank you Lana over at It Seams To Be Sew and  Madame Samm for this fun and creative blog hop. Welcome everyone and if you are new I hope you will stop back. I try and share quilt tutorials and projects and also have a Linky Party every Tuesday. Right now there is a giveaway going on if you link up and……keep reading for another giveaway right here!

Most people are using Beautiful Birds by Tracy Lizotte for Elizabeth’s Studio but I didn’t have the fabrics and…..you know how much I love Island Batik fabrics and my AccuQuilt die cutter so…..for my Tree Bird Hop project I combined the two.  I also used a frame that I have had for several years and it is still available from Ackfeld Manufacturing.

Tree Bird Wall hanging

I used the AccuQuilt Simple Shapes die by Edtya Sitar and my GO! Big Electric Fabric Cutter Starter Set to create this cute little project and it took no time at all.

AccuQuilt GO! BIG electric fabric cutter

I used the die to cut out my first stem and leaves and then I used the leftover piece to cut another stem and then I just freehand cut a couple other pieces. I really like to use every last scrap.

I used my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine which only has a straight stitch so I did a little free-motion wiggle stitching for my applique and did some stippling in the background.

One little bird almost flew away…….there he is!
