Barbed Wire Quilt Pattern

It is so much fun showing a quilt outside by the river when there isn’t a breeze.

Barbed Wire Quilt Pattern

Last month I only had a few of the sections made of this quilt that I showed in my Two New Scrap Projects post. My plan was for this to be something that I worked on once in a while…….as you can see that didn’t work out.

Barbed Wire Quilt Pattern

The other day I pulled out my AccuQuilt GO! and my AccuQuilt 2″ finished HST die, went through my scraps and made all kinds of blocks. What you see below is actually my leftovers! Hmmmm, wonder what I can make with them.

Barbed Wire Quilt Pattern

This quilt was in the book Scrappy Fat Quarter Quilts.

Once I had made so many HST blocks I couldn’t wait to lay out the rows on the floor…..next thing I knew…..I had it all put together. There was a quilting diagram that showed long feathers in the black sections. I don’t know if I am brave enough to try that.

I’m not going to trim the edges until I quilt it……which may be a bit. Have you ever done something like this? Plan on a project that should be long-term and then……not be able to stop once you start working on it. I think it is a beautiful design.

I also finished up my other project from the Scrappy Fat Quarter Quilts Book, check out my Trail Marker table runner.

This quilt is eye-catching. It's a great way to use small leftovers. I love when a project grips you so that you can't put it down. Looking forward to seeing it quilted.

Your quilt just LEAPT off the page at me from Let's Bee Social, even though it's not beside mine! So that's saying something. I love the by the river pic. Feathers for sure. Go for it; draw them out first (go visit Jasmine at Quilt Kisses for the link to a Feathers Boot Camp class) and also remember what Angela Walters always says: FMQ is not perfect.

This quilt is gorgeous, Connie. It looks difficult, but when you break it down, it's easy – just a LOT of blocks! I love it.

Good morning Connie…Just wanted to tell you that I think your latest quilt is beautiful, and when I saw the first picture hanging there, by the water, it brought to mind an old movie with Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney, called The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Don't know if you've ever seen it, but it is one of my all time favorite movies and I must have seen it at least a dozen times or more.

As to not being able to walk away from a project, I have definitely been there on many occasion…it's the nature of the beast.

    Hope you enjoy your week-end.

Connie that is a beautiful design and a major scrap buster. I think I have that book somewhere I'll have to pay special attention as I re-shelve my books in the great sewing room clean out. Almost done with that monumental chore and I'm getting excited about being able to sew again!

Such a lovely pattern, I can certainly understand how difficult it was for you to stop. Every time I try leader-ender units I end up forging ahead on them rather than the project I should be working on!

It's beautiful Connie! Yes, I have gotten so excited over a project that it just rolled along to the end. I don't think feathers. This reminds me of the photo you showed of the all the geese on the dark waters in front of your house. Maybe you could search some water motifs to fill that black and just a meander over the geese (hsts).
