Surprise, surprise……another pillow! I do love making pillows and I have a feeling I will be making lots of them this year. Poor Builder Bob just shakes his head.
I am taking part in the 2015 Free-motion Quilting Challenge that Darlene at QuiltShopGal is hosting. Option #3 which is the feathered heart design by LuAnn Kessi. You can find her tutorial here and you can see all of her beautiful quilting sketches here. Option #2 was a heart design by Frances Moore and I remember doing it in 2012 but I can’t find my old post.
I thought LuAnn’s feathered heart design was really neat and I drew the spines with my Frixion pen and then did a few of the feathers on the right side. Then I got brave and just started quilting. I don’t know if you can see but…..right away I was off the lines.
I think I did pretty good except for the center top……I completely got lost there. I think doing white on white made it hard but…..if I had used red thread I think it would have looked pretty messy. Do you like my vintage iron? I love the weight of it and boy does it get hot!
For the background I just marked lines every inch to keep me going straight and then just did straight free-motion lines close together. Ignore the thread tied around my sewing machine…..I still haven’t attached my LED light permanently.
Here is a closer look at the background quilting. I used muslin for my pillow and Warm & Natural cotton batting. The thread was Glide and I just did a envelope back on the pillow.
The quilt the pillow is on is a pattern that will be available soon. I have made it in 3 different variations of colors and just love it.
