Neutral string blocks are one of my favorite things to make and can be used in so many projects. Yesterday I was working on part 4 of the Grand Illusion mystery quilt by Bonnie Hunter and decided that I would try and get my neutral scraps box emptied out a little more. As you can see by the photo……I think I can make another 20 or 30 blocks!
I am using telephone book pages trimmed to 8 ½ inches square and also some little 4 inch squares. I love doing applique on blocks like this and……I’ll be doing a batik quilt for Spring Market using string blocks.
I use a old needle and a very small stitch. The paper is still attached the the blocks and I’ll probably remove it while watching the Walking Dead series. I don’t watch a lot of television but that is my favorite show.
Here are my blocks for Grand Illusion. I will finish up step 4 today and also step 5 which shouldn’t take too long. Yesterday I spent most of the day curled up in a comfy chair reading a book and relaxing.
How do you know if you really, really like a fabric line………..well this jelly roll of Somerset by Joanna Figueroa came in the mail yesterday, it was the 24 hour Flash Sale at Fat Quarter Shop…..love the sales! Anyway, yesterday I was looking at my stash and what did I find……..a charm pack and 4 mini charm packs of the same fabric. I did remember I had the minis as they just came last week. I have no idea what I’m going to make but…….I’d better get sewing!
