Yesterday I put two quilts in the mail to Island Batik for fall market and…..then I decided to work on a quick and easy project. Actually I already had this pieced……I just needed to quilt it.
Tutorial is coming tomorrow!
I couldn’t wait to take it outside on the deck by the flowers. Notice the deck floor……it still isn’t sealed…sigh….I got the railings done before we started getting rain, the flooding, quilt deadlines. I really, really need to open up that huge 5 gallon can of sealer and…..get to work…ugh. It is a lot more fun to quilt!
I finally got to sit down and do some quilting with the Glide thread that Dora Quilts is always talking about and……she is right……it is beautiful! She uses it in her treadle sewing machine for quilting. It has a little sheen to it, I used it in the top and bottom of my vintage 15-91 Singer that I quilt with.
I bought one to try out when I was at the Nolting long arm shop in Cedar Rapids, IA last week. You can also buy the thread online at Fil-Tec BobbinCentral and read more about it. After I quilted the entire table runner I still had thread left in the bobbin. I will definitely be buying more of this!
My table runner is 15 x 30 and believe it or not…..no batiks! I actually used fabrics that were in my stash or the scrap box. I used my Sizzix Big Shot and the Daisies Flower die.
I love the soft pastel colors
I used the green/blue blend on the back and the cute stripe for the binding.
I found this beautiful piece of fabric 2 years ago at a second hand store in Bonaparte, IA. I think I got 4 yards for just a couple dollars!
