I finished up a little baby quilt and had fun taking it out front by the Mississippi river for pictures.
I used my AccuQuilt Go and the 6 inch Snowball die to make this baby quilt. You can see where I cut out some orange half square triangles. It is very easy to match them to the sides of the snowball. Next time I will remember to take a picture of the half squares lying on the snowball.
I had some solids and this fun zoo baby print that I used about 5 years ago for another baby quilt. I played with a design in EQ7 with the colors I had. Then it was very easy to make up the blocks and put them in the correct order.
This isn’t very big; the size is 23 x 29 and I had enough of the zoo fabric to use on the back.
Lying flat on the grass. I did a large meander quilting on it and the binding was finished by machine. I used my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine.
I just had to include this photo……see those beautiful little blue/purple flowers……that is Creeping Charlie…..a very invasive weed. Many years ago we had moved to a new home and this was all along one side of the house so……I thought it was flowers. I’m pulling out grass and other weeds so it has plenty of room to grow. Then one day a neighbor came over and asked why I was deliberately growing weeds. When you mow it the smell is terrible.
This is the bell I usually hang my quilts on, if you look closely you can see the sea wall right behind it and then there is a 4 foot drop off. This kind of flooding on the Mississippi doesn’t bother us at all.
These are the stairs that go down to the river bank. Yesterday morning the top was above water. We are supposed to get about another foot.
I hope you enjoyed my little snowball quilt.
I am actually gone again this weekend helping Builder Bob finish up this deck at our friend’s house. We came up Friday and hopefully will be done sometime Saturday.
He was gone 3 days this week and has the entire floor on now. I can’t wait to see it as he did a special design. I’ll help him put the railing on. Yes…..that is the Mississippi river upstream from us.
We borrowed my dad’s trailer to haul the lumber. More photos to come!
