I pulled out my batik barn blocks that I made last year and decided I need to get them made into a quilt.
My plan is to finish this quilt by the end of the month so I am going to link to Melissa and Shanna’s A Lovely Year of Finishes. The blocks were from at quilt along at Bee in my Bonnet.
I am doing a QAYG (quilt as you go) project. I have my backing, batting and threads that I want to use. I am using a Oatmeal Bottomline in my bobbin and a Aurifil thread in the top.
I spent yesterday working on a couple of the blocks, now I just have 10 more to do and then put it all together. I have a dark brown batik on the back but…I used it all up so I’m not sure what I’ll be doing for the sashing. Right now I am just quilting the barns and leaving the creme sashing unquilted until I put it all together.
I also started working on the February blocks for my Craftsy BOM, which are complementary colors. I am using the batiks in my stash and some of my colors might be a little off but that is okay.
I never seem to work on just one project at a time. When my bobbin ran out for the barn quilt I just switched threads to a blue and worked in this project.
Don’t forget this is a FREE class at Craftsy that just started – you can see my January blocks here.
