Are you ready for Halloween? We usually don’t get any trick or treaters in our little town but I always have a bag of candy on hand in case. The candy seems to get eaten….by us!
Here is a Lil Twister Halloween Pumpkin wall hanging………..notice anything unusual about it??????
I used a little Photoshop on it as the one I “really” made didn’t come out quite right. I made a basic drawing that I went by but….somehow I really goofed up on the left side. I kept working on it and have no idea why. It has been shoved in a corner until this week when I decided to either finish it or throw it away. (In the photo above I sliced it in half in Photoshop and made a mirror image of it).
I made this with 2 1/2 inch squares and after twisting them…..oh boy were they tiny. I have done this before but not with so many pieces. The finished size of this is 21 x 21 inches and each little square is only 1 inch square.
I put my border on and then had to decide how to quilt it. There are lots and lots of seams going in every direction. I was going to use a denim needle and then I found a old package of Schmetz quilting needles with a 90/14 needle so I used that. I just did a meandering…..slowly.
Here you can see the back, I used muslin and matched the threads to the blocks on the front. I also put the corner pieces on so my daughter can easily hang this.
I was going to do a tutorial but you’re going to have to wait a while as sometime after Christmas I’ll rework this and get it looking good. For now here is the way I lined up the squares if you want to go for it. I would shorten up the mouth and then fix the left side.
As always it is so much fun to see how much the piece shrinks when you use the twister template.
