Welcome to my day on the Autumn Appliqued Animals EQ blog hop and a big thanks to Beaquilter for organizing it and to Electric Quilt for designing a great quilting software and also….for a fantastic giveaway! I think I have been using Electric Quilt since version 3……each new version is easier and easier to use.
I decided to make a little pillow so I could try out my design right away. I have a feeling you’ll see this little kitty on Friday…..in a different color.
This is a little applique kitty that I designed in EQ. I couldn’t wait to stitch it up using the new Aurifil thread I have. I actually only used the black for the applique and then used the creme and tan for the free motion quilting on this pillow.
What I want to share with you today is the Thread feature in EQ7.
Let’s get started and add some stitching to our applique.
Click on Libraries then click on Thread Library
Choose a thread and color that you like. I chose Aurifil. Now add it to your sketchbook and click close.
I always, always ZOOM in before stitching.
Now click on the little button to the right that looks like a paintbrush and a spool of thread. This window will pop up and you will check the color, style and weight of thread you would like use. Experiment! Just make sure to have a check mark in the little box. Now go add the stitch lines!
Now you can see all the cute stitching around the kitty.
Here you can see my quilt (pillow) in EQ.
Here is another little design I’m working on.
You can find all kinds of interesting things at DoYouEQ which is the EQ blog. You will find videos, tutorials, free fabrics of the month, downloads and more! Electric Quilt also has great support and a forum.
Leave a comment here to be included in the drawing and also visit and comment on each blog that is taking part in the blog hop through Friday October 25th for more chances.
