I jumping in on the hexie craze with a modern pillow and I’m calling the pattern…..Hexie Chromosome!
I wanted to try out half hexies with of course some of my oldie stash (just in cast I didn’t like it) and also used some of my grey fabric that I made my Nyan Cat quilt out of……I’m getting low on this fabric! I had fun and will be making something else this way.
There are several different ways of making hexagons without having to hand-stitch……something I’m not crazy about doing…..although I am finishing up some little baskets that required hand-stitching.
I’m calling this a modern pillow with lots of negative space – which years ago we just called background. I am really liking grey in my work. I figured this might make a nice pillow for my son in law who is a Georgia Bulldog fan but……I don’t know….it looks pretty neat on our bed!
The pillow is about 18 inches and I just did the overlap on the back.
I also did a little shopping the other day when I went to town with Bob….we have 2 quilt shops in town but I have a hard time finding The Little Red Hen. It is in a residential area…..hidden….now that Bob has showed me AGAIN where it is….I’m going to have to keep going back quite often so I don’t forget how to get there. I picked up a couple charms packs and a teeny one.
