Falling Charms quick and easy quilt tutorial
Sometimes all you want to do is have fun making a quick and easy quilt! This tutorial is definitely that!
It took me no time at all to whip up 2 quilt tops using the Falling Charms block. I had a bunch of 10″ blocks that I cut into 5″ squares for my quilts.
This is how far I have gotten on the two quilt tops for my grand-daughters. One quilt is 70 x 52 and the other is 64 x 52. I am out of the fabrics so I will need to add borders to them.

You can check out the video at Missouri Star Quilt Co. called Falling Charms for the tutorial.
I have a feeling once these are quilted, washed and dried they will look like old antique quilts. There is only one block used in this quilt. In the video 2 1/2 inch strips are used and strip pieced but I thought you might like to see what size to cut individual pieces.
Cutting:
- 5″ square scrappy color
- 2 ½” x 5″ background color
- 2 ½” x 7″ background color

Thanks, Connie
I'm going to adapt this pattern by making it small enough for a baby quilt. I have a beautiful focus fabric that I don't want to cut into small pieces. I'm thinking this would be perfect with those 5 inch pieces.
Thanks!!!
I love those quilts Connie and it looks a great way to use charm packs and layer cakes.
Updated the EQ quilt layout, thanks Sharon!
These quilts are gorgeous Connie! You have given me ideas for how to use some charm packs I have, thank you. I tried to comment on your last post that you hair looks lovely short. Alas I couldn't due to impossibly slow Internet I had yesterday. It's a problem I know you understand. Funnily I thought areas of USA would not have the problems of slow Internet we do here in Australia. I thought you'd be much more advanced than us!
Hi Connie from Redding, California.
I am new a new fan. I have visited hundreds of other sites (and I can prove it with my Pinterest collections). I just wanted to say I think what you do here is outstanding and your site is truly one of my favorites. Your instructions are simple. I want so much to move forward and actually sit down and quilt, but I keep putting it off, no nerve. I have so much fabric on hand and can't decide where to begin. I don't want to make an ugly quilt. I feel like giving away all my stash starting fresh. Anyhow, thanks for all your sharing.
I hope HugesNet works out for you. Let us know. We have that available in area also and I've been curious about it. Even tho I paid extra for the upgrade our service is still so slow – the lament of country living. Thanks for providing the linky party every week, it's always so fun to see what others are working on/doing around the country.
That is too funny as I just showed this tute to my SIL as maybe her next project. You may want to check your EQ layout in the 3rd/4th row on the right – I think the last couple of blocks are rotated wrong.
Thanks for the numbers. Lovely!
We have Wild Blue / via exceed as we live in the sticks. We used to have dial up. These are our ONLY OPTIONS. We even have to have a satellite for TV. Overall we are happy with our Internet service. Of course when the weather gets bad we get dropped for a while.
Love these Connie… thanks for showing me how. I have a few layer cakes that could use a project!
I really liked this quilt when I saw the video. Thanks for sharing the measurements. I might want to do this but I don't tend to buy layer cakes, he k, or any precuts. No reason I can't cut up a bunch of my own fabric! I think you are right. Those quilts will look very much like soft, well loved quilts when washed.
Cute quilts, Connie. Thank for the tutorial; I just bought a couple of charm packs from Missouri Star and they would be perfect for this.
