Thank you Jane of Jane’s Fabrics and Quilts for being our awesome cheerleader for the Hugs & Kisses blog hop and of course no one does a better job of organizing blog hops than Madame Samm of Sew We Quilt!
This is my own design called Crazy Hearts and I had hoped to have a pattern done but…..it hasn’t happened yet. I used all batiks and I’ve been on a little flower kick lately…..this is my third floral piece this month!
I pulled out my batik scraps of pinks and reds and made some “fabric” that I used for my hearts.
If you haven’t been here before, I do all of my applique with my vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine which only has a straight stitch. The applique is done free motion.
Yesterday I decided to pull out some paints and work with a new stencil. I used a stencil by Margaret Applin called Heart Striped.
I outlined the heart and was going to do a ruffle around and all of a sudden I was doing feathers…..not very good feathers…..too late to stop…so I kept going and going…..
Once I realized I ruined the stencil look I decided to just stop with a small piece that will hang on my wall as a reminder of what NOT to do. I forgot how much I enjoy stenciling so I will do more!
This is a cute Twister Heart tutorial that I posted last week so people would have a chance to make it before Valentine’s Day……I’ve already seen several that have been made so I’m glad I posted it early. There is a .pdf file that you can download.
A heart table runner I did last year and the tutorial is – here
