Garden Maze quilt at Freemotion by the River

Barely in the nick of time…..I finished one of my 3 UFO’s for this month. The other 2….aren’t done but I really love this one! I can’t remember the name of the fabrics anymore, it was the first fat quarter bundle I ever bought.

Garden Maze quilt at Freemotion by the River

It was fun to take the quilt down to the river and lay it on the ice covered snow. I used a raspberry rosebud print that has been in my stash for a long time.

Back of Garden Maze in the snow

Did you notice the prints in the snow….they are Canadian goose prints, I had to be careful of where I laid the quilt and they are very messy birds….if you know what I mean.

Not to worry, after I took the pictures I brought the quilt in and washed and dried it. I look the old vintage look you get.

We had some more snow yesterday and saw the very first barge go up river for the year! This has to be the earliest we seen one. The barge was already past our house but I  wanted a photo. It looks fuzzy because it was snowing.

Wonderful finish Connie! I love the way you photographed it. I got to thinking, that photo of the geese prints would make some wonderful looking fabric!

Beautiful quilt once again Connie! You really do have the same taste in quilt patterns and fabrics that I do. I see that more and more with each one you show. This one is no different as it is one of those near the top of my 'love that quilt' list. And the fabrics are great. I love the colors and how florals are mixed with the dots and plaids(?) or are they just squares? Hard to tell.

I was just thinking about the 'messy' geese and yes, I know all too well about those birds. Not only messy, but very loud too at times but I still love watching them. I used to take my three boys to the river in Beloit to feed the ducks and geese when they were little. They just loved going to feed them because they would come right up and take the bread scraps right out of their hands. Of course, then the city made it illegal to feed them and hired a company that uses dogs to chase them all away because of the 'messy' factor. 🙁 I wonder if you used a large plastic sheet or even a plastic tarp to lay down first and then lay your quilts over top if it would work to ensure they stay clean?.

Love the quilt and the pics! I envy you the snow. Sadly, it's the coldest, driest winter we've had here in California in years. We sure do need some of your snow.

Another beautiful quilt and magazine/calendar/quilt book quality photos. Actually, if they were made into greeting cards I think they'd sell too. Great job.

I've never seen goose tracks in the snow before. Way cool. Did they think you were giving them a quilt to keep warm?

What a pretty quilt and what a wonderful use for FQs. Did you have a pattern or were you making one up? I love your barge photo – the 'fuzzy' just makes it more interesting. But the $64 question is ….. did you get your high speed internet today?

*Love* this quilt! It's so pretty. Nice river shots for it, too. We get a lot of Canadian geese here – they crack me the way they like to just sit right in the street when it's snowing. They scare my 15yo.
