This is my project for Annies Vision – challenge 3 of Project Quilting. I thought the snow on the deck was kind of neat. This piece is 13 x 18 and I call it Coneflower Happiness.
Applique Coneflower Wallhanging
We were to go to Annie Young Arts and get inspiration from her beautiful work. The minute I saw her Coneflowers I know that was what I wanted to create.
I have several boxes of flower pieces that I have either cut by hand or with one of my cutters. The flowers were actually a daisy petal die for my Sizzix Big Shot. That gave me a start and I also had leaves cut….some I just re-cut to the size I wanted. I used batiks for everything. The yellow centers started out as circles.
Here you can see the piece before it was appliqued. This isn’t a true Coneflower plant…..I took a few “artistic” liberties with it.
Of course I did all free motion applique on my 15-91 Singer.
I used a brown thread on top of the yellow center of the flowers.
Of course I had to share the back with you……I could probably paint it and have a reversible piece!
Does it look like I’ve been busy with flowers???? More to come! I finished quilting the Nyan Cat quilt and should be putting the binding on it today…..yippee!
