Batiks in the Snow Mug Rug

It is fun to take advantage of the snow for photos outside. I’ve been on a roll lately using up the scraps I have from other projects. These are batik pieces from a table runner I made for my daughter for Christmas. I know I took pictures of it but….I can’t seem to find the post, hmmm did I ever post it??

Can you tell the size of my project? Someone commented that on the internet you can never tell what size a quilt is depending on the photo. I agree, sometimes I have seen a quilt that I thought was large only to find out it was 30 inches by 40 inches.

I couldn’t resist this photo down by the river, it was a little windy so I borrowed one of my dad’s old model T to hold it. By the way, he is doing great, done with physical therapy and walking almost 1 1/2 miles a day on the treadmill. He is bored, waiting for warm weather so he can go down to his shop and work on tractors.

So this is a mug rug! A little bigger than normal…12 inches by 14 inches.

I really like the rich colors in this and I still have the blocks made that I believe were supposed to be for place-mats.

  2. If you hadn't said it was a mug rug and showed us the model car I wouldn't have ever guessed it was! It looked so huge on the snow!

  3. I love your mug rug made of batiks. Did you see the beautiful blue shadows in your second picture with the truck? The low winter sun casts blue shadows on the snow.

  4. Wow Connie! You really pump these mug rugs out don't you? I don't know what happened to your dad that he's recovering and doing 1.5 miles on the treadmill, but I'm willing to bet he's showing me up….I think I'm doing good at 1.5 miles in 30 minutes at my age (and I'm not even recovering from anything) but it probably doesn't compare to your dad! God Bless him.

We have a breakfast bar that we mainly sit at for meals and while on the computer. I love the mug rugs but need them slightly larger and a little smaller than full placemats. I love your size, it would be perfect.

You fooled me with the size of your mug rug, thought it was larger but no matter the size, I love the project. Would like to make a table runner like this, will see if I can find it on you blog somewhere.

I just love mug rugs. I even enjoy using them. Much better than a coaster, in my opinion.

Your's is a very nice one. Enjoy.
