I finished up this cute little mug rug…….almost looks like Spring colors doesn’t it? My sister-in-law brought over some homemade cookies….oops I took a bite out of it before I realized it was the last one and looked perfect on my little mug rug! It was yummy.

This is made with some batiks I had on hand…..imagine that and I used my Sizzix Big Shot to cut out the flower, then some free motion quilting and it was done. I forgot to take photos of the steps so I made another one out of Christmas fabrics but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow for a fast and easy tutorial on it.

In the meantime I have a couple pairs of Builder Bob’s jeans that need a little mending. That isn’t my favorite thing to do but my old Singer sewing machine does a fantastic job on denim……so well that my dad has several pair of work pants that have more patches than actual fabric anymore. My brother also brings me his overalls to mend. I just tell everyone I DON’T replace zippers…….yuck!

The old machines are really workhorses on those heavy projects. I'll send my jeans off to you and I'll do your zippers.

  9. Love the mug rug fabric! So pretty! I spend the first week of September every year hemming jeans for everyone. Not my favorite activity, but the girls across the street are so happy that the technique I use makes them look like they were not hemmed.

You know what they say "asking a quilter to mend is like asking Picasso to paint the garage." Look forward to the tutorial.

  12. What a cute little mug rug. I'm with you on zippers – and I don't mend, either! 😀

  13. Your mug rug is so pretty! You're right, the cookie looks great with it!
I spent some time Thanksgiving mending my grandson's jeans. He's only 5 and the jeans were so skinny, I couldn't get them on the arm of my machine. I had to mend by hand. He thought it was magic, though. Worth every stitch!

  14. Mug rug is beautiful! Cookie looks yummy. I don't do zippers either, LOL!

  15. I had rather put in a zipper than to mend… How about we trade out. lol
