Organizing my quilting space

Quilt studio reorganized Freemotion by the River

Sometimes after a few big projects I get in the mood to change my quilt room around a bit. I’m pretty limited anymore by the built-in shelves but I did move the white shelf unit to a different spot and moved all my books and magazines off of it.

Lots and lots of UFO's very visible

I decided to put my UFO’s right across from where I sew………..maybe this way I’ll start working on them. I’ve got a new bolt of muslin, a bolt of Warm & Natural and two 15-91 Singer sewing machines nice and handy. Actually the bolt of batting is in our bedroom behind a door….worked great for the last bolt.

Recycled meat containers for projects

There are the meat containers that I showed you here…oops…..I think I still have a couple of empty containers.

Recycled meat containers with a peek at projects

Here you can see just a couple of the projects I have started and have no idea why I haven’t finished them!

Quilt magazines now in cupboards

Here is what I decided to do with my quilt magazines….inside the cupboard. The ones that are opened….probably patterns I just had to make. Notice the cork-board on the inside of the doors, I’m surprised there isn’t anything pinned on them. I have cork-board on the fronts of all the cabinet doors too……lots of stuff pinned there.

Quilt books and paints in cupboards

My quilt books went into another cupboard. The little cubbyholes below have charm packs, rulers and other miscellaneous things in them. The cabinets were originally made for a office so some wire paper trays from the Dollar Store fit perfectly.

Sizzix dies and coffee cups for mug rugs

This is the last top cupboard which holds my Sizzix dies, sewing machine supplies and coffee cups for mug rugs. I only use a small pad for ironing, when I need to work on something bigger I go out to the other room.

I have showed my room at different times and you can find more photos here: Mess in my quilt room or if you want to see inside the other cupboards and my fabrics click my remodel here.
Found another link – my cleaned up room and fabrics here.

I hope you enjoyed my little tour, I know I always get a kick out of seeing where other people create!

Tomorrow is my day on the Leafs me happy blog hop so be sure and stop back!

I love that you use old metal machines! Me and many of my friends have all ditched our $3000 plastic cadillacs for old metal machines in the past year or so. They are such a pleasure to sew on! Hugs! Amie :0)

Hello, Connie! Love to see your sewing room! Very inspiring!
It makes me wonder how you fixed all your rulers in place? Do they have little holes??
Always a pleasure to visit your blog!

WOWZER, but you are organized. I think I'd better fly you out here to Calif so you can wave your talents around my disorganized room… it would be so nice to create in a room that isn't filled with chaos! lol. All kidding aside, your room looks really great! Thanks for sharing it.

wonderful and organized room to create! I was wondering if you use your Sizzix for cutting fabric? I have one for scrapbooking, but never have used it for cutting fabric.
    Thanks!

I love to organize and see posts about others who do the same. Your sewing space is wonderfully set up and organized. I may steal your idea of using meat trays, how clever. Have a very happy sewing day!

Isn't it fun to straighten up our nests occasionally? I love to clean up and even clean out to make room for some new toys :*) Your room looks exactly how I would have imagined – organized and prepared for any kind of fun that might pop up!

It looks good and you are very organized. I have rearranged mine so many times and still haven't found the 'perfect' solution. And I'm like Kiera – it only takes a day or so after cleaning up for everything to look like a war zone again. I like your meat tray idea.
