I’m still going through my orphan blocks and making little pouches out of them. I forgot to take a picture of the string pieced brown block before I cut it up. I believe I made this last year for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and since the color is brown again this month/year this was a great project to make.
It was a 12 inch block that I cut in half and then added a 8 inch by 12 inch piece of fabric between the 2 cut pieces. Then I quilted it.
Here is the little bag before I boxed the corners which makes the bag wider and also standup.
Each pouch is made a little differently as I like experimenting. I did french seams on it and here you can see that my corners are boxed about 1 1/2 inch in.
I took some pictures while making this pouch but they just weren’t good
enough for a tutorial and there are lots of great ones out there
I thought I would show you a picture of the pouches I’ve made lately.
See the pumpkin one….that is the one I did out of a 12 square….quite
a bit shorter.
This is a wonderful site and she has a great tutorial called Easy zippy pouches that has excellent photos and directions especially if you have never done a zipper before. She has several other great tutorials too at her blog Dog Under My Desk.
