Today I get to show you a couple of things that I made for the Leafs me happy blog hop. Last week I showed you a center piece I had made that had a cute owl print fabric in it, if you missed it you can see it here.
For this center piece I decided to cut out one of the owls and then add leaves behind it. The leaves were cut with my Sizzix Big Shot. I just did my freemotion squiggle applique around the pieces.
I am terrible at naming quilts………I guess I’ll call this one Leafy Autumn Owl.
I also cut out a light cardboard leaf and used it as a template to do the free motion leaves around the center.
The next thing I did was make this 12 inch block which I really liked…..but I didn’t have anymore of the batik I used. This photo doesn’t show the true color…..the next photo will.
I decided to quilt the block and make it into a little pouch. A perfect way to use this block and keep it from becoming another orphan block.
You can see that the first block I made was just a little bit bigger…….actually it was a 18 inch block which is a nice size for a center piece.
Some of you may have been wondering……..where is the block that she showed a sneak peek of the other day…….here it is. Lots of fall leaves and some pumpkins cut with both the Sizzix Big Shot leaves die and the AccuQuilt Go Baby pumpkin die. This is a 12 inch block and I haven’t decided what I am going to add to it yet. I think I may make this into a table-runner and call it Autumn Harvest.
A very special thanks to Cherry from Cherry Blossoms Studio and Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt for putting together this wonderful blog hop! Be sure and visit the other blogs below that have some neat blocks to show you!
