I finished quilting my bright orange string pieced block…….yep it is bright! This is for my 2012 Rainbow Scrap Challenge – I’m doing a QAYG (quilt as you go).
Notice anything different in the photo above?? I took my Singer 401 Slant-O-Matic out of the cabinet and put another 15-91 Singer in it……I now have twins……well……there is still another one downstairs…….. I also moved furniture around again and I’ll show that to you next week.
I decided to practice my feathering on this piece so all I marked was 3 spines with chalk. I used a light yellow thread. Below is a photo of the back so you can see the quilting better….the bottom left one….I lost my direction and I also stitched too many times on the spine – there is no chalk on this side, it is all stitching.
I was talking to Leah Day last night from The Free Motion Quilting Project about the FMQ samplers that I showed yesterday and she suggested using the sampler blocks to make quilts for charity which is a wonderful idea. Leah also said we notice our mistakes much more than others.
Here are the string blocks that I have made so far – I mentioned last month that I wasn’t as thrilled with making a quilt out of them as I had thought I would be and maybe I would just make lots of center pieces with them. Well now I have decided that when I have all 12 done I will put them together for a quilt as I’m sure someone will love it.
I am also excited that one of my string table runners is included in FaveQuilts newest free e-Book called Super String Quilts – there are 13 paper piecing and scrap patterns in this book! Be sure and download your free copy!
Here is my table runner – my blog post about it is here.
Yesterday after fasting and having blood drawn we did go to the Olive Garden……we both had their Soup and Salad….all you can eat! I had Chicken and Dumplings and Builder Bob had the Italian Sausage and Potato, we left stuffed!
