Christmas is always a great time to decorate your home, even the bathroom! This mini table runner would be perfect.

Most of you know how much I enjoy working with batiks and once again, I applied to Island Batik to be an ambassador in 2018 and have been accepted!.

Our project for December was to use Island Batik scraps to make a table topper. When I was decorating for Christmas I didn’t find any Christmas bath runners…..I must have given them away. Now was a perfect time to make a couple more.

My little table runners are just 8 x 16 inches and fit perfectly on the back of our toilets.

You can find the Log Cabin Mini Table Runner pattern here.

I keep all of my Island Batik fabrics in IKEA storage containers. I also use them to support my ironing surface.

Here is my basket of leftover Island Batik Christmas fabrics. I just love going through them!

The collection was actually called Season’s Greeting and I made this beautiful wall hanging with the batiks.

It is so much fun to mix and match Christmas fabrics and projects, I made this tree skirt about 20 years ago!

I used a red Aurifil thread to do my freemotion quilting. It has been a while since I quilted feathers. I drew the stem to help me figure out where the feather was going.

Then I made another Christmas batik bath runner and used a green Aurifil thread for the quilting.

Notice how I change the way I used the red and green in my log cabin blocks?

I love your table runners, I still have my fall one on, have to busy pronto and change them. I also love Connecting Threads. Unfortunately they do not carry the varigated thread. I have red, white and blue that I use on the quilts for the VA and can no longer get it. Other stores have it, but it is a lot darker and I don’t like it.
Connecting Threads start carrying it again please.

  2. Such a cute idea and great little quilts. Silly me, I never thought of a toilet top runner. In my house, I can guarantee these would end up in the toilet one way or another, or I would find a kitty fast asleep on the toilet tank. 🙂

  3. these are cute! we got new “thrones” now and the button is on the top in the middle, so I can’t even stack TP there anymore. I need to figure out a way to put a quilt in the bathroom!

  4. I love those bath runners. I think I am going to have to try making some of those. I hope you do get to be a Batik Ambassador for 2018. You have proven in the past what can be achieved. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.

  5. Those are so festive Connie. I was curious about what an Island Batik Ambassador is all about and went to their site to find out, but they are no longer taking applications for 2018. Well I just wanted to know what was involved and couldn’t find any info on it. Do you buy their batiks only? Or do they provide it for you and you use them to create a design? Is there any info you can share? Might be something to try in 2019 if I know more about it. Thanks!

  6. Hi Connie,
I certainly do wish you luck to be an Island Batik Ambassador again next year. I love batiks and I love seeing what you do with them. They would be mad to turn you down! Those toilet toppers are great, just like all your projects have been since I discovered your blog.

  7. Those runners are so nice and the little mouse is too cute! I’m glad you’re going to be an ambassador again — love everything you create! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  8. Those are so pretty and a great idea. The storage area is fabulous and perfect for an ironing station

  9. Connie Dear you just must continue as an Ambassador for Island Batiks. I wish we could vote for you! Lovely Bath Runners and both are gorgeous with the traditional reds and greens. Your Quilted Feathers are lovely. Merry Christmas Dear…xo

  10. The Serenity pattern is beautiful and those toilet toppers are very cute. Love how you quilted them!
