This morning I finished trimming up block two from the First Blush book by It’s Sew Emma Pattern. My plan was to do 2 blocks a month just like the book does but…..I did block one last month and didn’t get another one done. January should be cold and snowy so I should have NO problem getting 2 blocks then…..we’ll see. Note to self: Month Two is January!
The Fat Quarter Shop sent me the book which features the Creative Grids Starburst 30 degree triangle ruler. First Blush Block of the Month has full-color diagrams of each block and step. Please note that you will need the ruler that is used in the book for the blocks.
There are 24 different blocks and I’ll be using all kinds of beautiful batiks in it! My goal is to grab 2 different fat quarters from my batik stash for each block. This will be a colorful quilt! In just minutes I had all the pieces cut.Everything goes together easy peasy until this crucial step……sewing that final seam allowance.
I usually take the time to carefully pin and sew the center where all those pieces come together.
Sometimes many times I rip the stitches out and do it again….and again. I am not a perfectionist but I try to get it half way right.Your blocks start out large and then you trim them down to size. That makes for perfect blocks! There are a lot of points in the middle and I tried to line it up as carefully as I could. Like I said before……I’m not a perfectionist and it works for me.
