Board Game is in the current issue of Quiltmaker!

I am so excited to have a quilt in the September/October 2016 issue of Quiltmaker!

Board Game batik quilt blowing in the wind

I recently got my quilt back and thought it would be fun to post a couple of new photos of it. Sometimes it can be a little tricky to get a photo down by the river with the wind blowing…..I like the way this looks!

Sea Canyon Collection from Island Batik

I used the Sea Canyon collection from Island Batik. The dark fabric is actually a beautiful burgundy which didn’t photograph very well. It is a very rich color.

Quiltmaker Magazine Sept/Oct 2016

You can find Board Game on page 40 of this issue. You can also find a neat quilt in this issue by my friend Bea Lee, she made Ninja Stars which is a AccuQuilt die-friendly pattern.

Be sure and look at the other quilt patterns I have had published. Have you been wondering where I was in the last few days?? It was finally time to get the new roof put on over the deck and also to get our whole house re-roofed. That meant our satellite dish was taken down and we had NO internet. Yesterday afternoon it was hooked back up.

I took this photo this morning, it will be a couple weeks before all of the work is done but I have a roof over the deck and……can you see that we had rain this morning…..I was able to sit on my deck, take a picture of my quilt and stay dry! I love it already!

Iggy had to be protected while all the work was going on……can you see how Builder Bob placed a little roof over Iggy so no one would drop a hammer on his head.

Iggy the Eagle Protected

That is our new front door that hopefully will be installed in a of couple weeks, then new siding. I couldn’t stand not having a view out the front windows so I cut holes in the Tyveck and taped around them with tape.

New Roof over Deck

Now that the roof is on we shouldn’t have to worry about water getting in around the windows until the new siding is put on.

I did a guest post on Quilty Pleasures for my Board Game quilt in Quiltmaker, I hope you check it out!  The Sea Side blog hop with Island Batik ambassadors is going strong.

On Wednesday, August 24th, the batik collection that will be showcased is Sea Canyon and I will talk a little more about my quilt and…..have a giveaway of the Quiltmaker magazine with Board Game in it and also some of the fabrics I used.

Update: read more about the Board Game quilt pattern which is now available in my shop!

  2. Congats Connie!! Way to go; you must be super-excited. LOVE the roof over your deck and I grinned when you said you cut holes in the Tyvek as I’d have done the same thing; gotta SEE outside, especially when a view like yours is there. That burgundy batik is so rich; I think you caught it quite well in the photo with the others laid out. Off to check out the hop!

I have some batiks but have not used them yet. Thanks for the opportunity to add to my stash.

  6. Wow Connie! See? I knew it was just a matter of time before you had your name in lights; so to speak. And I knew I should have gotten that autograph from you before you became a star. 😉 Congratulations on Quiltmaker!

I’m so bummed right now because I actually had that magazine issue in my hand last night, but we were at the checkout and I was so exhausted and in pain that I didn’t bother to open and look through it and I put it back. ACK! (At least I think this is the issue I had in my hand; see I WAS exhausted and can’t recall now) I do know I had the issue that was the Row by Row and put that back down too. We left around 11am and drove all the way to Arlington Heights (yes a 2 hr drive) for just ONE yard of Shannon Cuddle fabric because that was the closest store that had it. 🙁 I needed it before I knew it could arrive in the mail if ordered online. ugh. The night before Curt drove to Milton, WI to pick up the other 2 colors of Cuddle I also needed from another shop which thankfully was closer, but they only had 2 of the 3 colors I needed. SO frustrating that those are the only two shops near us that even stock that fabric. Anyway, after that we ate some little Gyro shop and then back near home to JoAnn’s and PetSmart, then to Starbucks and home about 8pm. You can imagine what kind of shape I was in after all that running I’m sure given what you know about my health. LOL I’m just so mad that I put that magazine down and the Row by Row issue since I really did want that one too. 🙁 I let my subscription lapse and didn’t renew because of a problem I’d had with them that had been ongoing for almost 4 yrs so I gave up and stopped. I’d been a subscriber since about 2003/4 or so. It was the first quilt magazine I ever subscribed to so it was sad that I couldn’t get the problem fixed because I really hated dropping it.

Anyway, I’ll stop blabbing, but will say how awesome the house looks and can’t wait to see it finished, although probably not as much as you. lol I laughed when you said you couldn’t stand not seeing out and cut holes in the Tyvek. LOL Are you going to change your mind and have windows put back in? Or wasn’t that the area you had them removed in order to have the cover over the deck added?

Have a great Sunday and congratulations again about the magazine! Awesome!

    1. OH one more thing ~ I HAD considered driving to another shop which supposedly carried Shannon Cuddle, although it would have been a drive there as well. BUT, if we’d have made that drive, it would have meant I could finally meet you in person as it was a shop in your town. LOL

  7. Congrats on having your fantastic quilt in Quiltmaker. What an honor. Goad Builder Bob remembered to take care of Iggy during the construction. Enjoy your new roof on your deck. Looks fantastic

  8. What wonderful recognition of your work. The quilt is beautiful.I have lived the roofing, windows, doors and gutter dreams in the last couple years. Feels so good to get it done. That deck roof is fantastic. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!

  9. Congratulations! What a wonderful achievement! The quilt is gorgeous! I love the blocks, the colors and the multiple borders! Ha! I just love the entire quilt! 😉 congratulations!!!

  10. You may have been missing for a few days but you certainly packed a lot into this post! Your covered deck is gorgeous; I’d have Builder Bob throw one or two ceiling fans in there for the hot summer days. Helps keep the little flying critters at bay, too. 😀 Your quilt is so pretty. Congratulations on being in Quiltmaker. I’ll have to look for it when I’m out and about next week.

  11. Beautiful quilt! Congratulations on the publishing of it. Great outdoor space you have now with the covered deck.
