Are you looking for another beautiful tablerunner that would be perfect to use in the fall? This Roasted Coffee Table Runner Tutorial is fun to make.

The brown batiks make me think of sipping a hot cup of coffee and watch the leaves fall.

I have included directions to create this tablerunner using AccuQuilt GO! dies or you can easily cut out the blocks by hand using the instructions below.

Recently I was a guest blogger on AccuQuilt’s blog and sharing a fast and easy table runner that is made using the new AccuQuilt GO! Qube Mix & Match 12″ block set.

I am really having fun with the 8 dies in this set and will have other projects to share soon. I had just enough of the French Roasted collection from Island Batik to make it.

Don’t have the AccuQuilt cutter and dies? Keep reading and I’ll share rotary cutting directions.

This is another fast and easy table runner for you using the GO! Qube Mix & Match 12” Block set.

It is so neat to have 8 different dies in such a handy self-contained storage system!

There are 13 block patterns included on small cards plus you can get a free 72 block pattern booklet that will give you all kinds of ideas for ways to use the dies.

Materials Needed:

I used beautiful batik fabrics that are from Island Batik’s French Roasted collection.

  • Dark Brown – ¼ yard
  • Cream – ¼ yard
  • Light Brown – ¼ yard
  • Brown – ¼ yard – 3 – 2 ½” strips for binding
  • Backing – 42” x 18”
  • Batting – 42” x 18”

GO! Cutting Dies:

GO! Qube Mix & Match 12” Block

I started out using the Mosaic block pattern which is included but changed it just a little.
Follow the cutting directions below.

Shape 4: GO! Quarter Square Triangle-6″ Finished Square

  • Cut – 8 dark brown
  • Cut – 6 cream
  • Cut – 4 light brown

Shape 5: GO! Half Square Triangle-3″ Finished Square

  • Cut – 36 cream
  • Cut – 8 dark brown
  • Cut – 4 light brown

Shape 6: GO! Square on Point-4 3/4″ (4 1/4″ Finished)

  • Cut – 2 light brown
  • Cut – 1 dark brown

Assembly:

  • Use a ¼ inch seam allowance throughout and press to the dark side.
  • Follow the diagram below and piece your blocks making 6 flying geese sections by adding 2 half square triangles (5) to each quarter square triangle (4).
  • Next add 4 half square triangles (5) to each square on point (6).
  • Layout each block as shown and sew together.

If you don’t have a AccuQuilt Go cutter and dies you easily make this by rotary cutting the pieces.

Use the amounts listed above and piecing directions.

  • Cut a 4 3/4″ square for the center
  • The half-square triangles – cut a 3 7/8″ square and cut once on the diagonal
  • For the quarter square triangles – cut a 7  3/16″ square and cut diagonally twice.

Make 3 blocks using the picture below for your fabric placement for the center block.

Join the blocks together, add your backing and batting and quilt as desired.

I used a small feather design in the center of my blocks that I first marked the feather design with a chalk wheel.

  1. Hi Connie,
I’d love to make table runner, but how do a person cut a 7-3/16 inch square? Would 7-1/4 square work?

  2. Connie DeCoud says:

What kind of carpet did you use? Fabric? Color?

  3. Thank you Connie for sharing this very smart runner with those delicious colors. Love it, love it, love it.

I really like the color and design of this table runner. My favorite part is the quilted feather ring in the center of the blocks. I have used stencils in my quilting also. Looks great. Thanks for sharing all the great projects! I have tried several so far and plan to work on more. I really like doing table runners.

  5. The richness of the batik and the richness of good coffee – perfect blend! Love the quilting you did. Looking forward to the acorn recipe – I’ll probably never make it but you never know! Thanks!

Are all your patterns based on the Accuquilt go method. I do not have an accuquilt go, l only do sewing machine quilting. Thanks Linda Furtado

    1. hi connie, such a nice project, and then I read go! I was just thinking that if you don’t have the device, you can’t copy the instructions … but wait, below, connie makes this wonderful possibility true even for non-owners of this device !! bravo, I think it’s commendable, I don’t see it often … thank you very much for all your great ideas and works!!!.elena

I would love to make this runner, unfortunately I don’t have an Accuquilt GO cutter, lol maybe some day!! My question is, what are the actual cutting measurements for the squares? I will be using a rotary cutter. If I could please get the measurements that would be awesome! Thank you in advance.

    1. Hi Chris, you would need to cut a 4 3/4″ square for the center, for the half square triangles – cut a square 3 7/8″ and cut once on the diagonal. For the quarter square triangles – cut a 7 3/16″ square and cut diagonally twice. Good luck.

  25. Oh, I love those colors together. When I was at the International Quilt Festival in Ireland a few years ago, they had a kit for sale that used those colors, only they were calling theirs something like Guinness Stout. I loved it then, and your table runner definitely brings it to mind.

  26. The carpet and the runner are both gorgeous! Love the fabrics you used in the runner.
