Aurifil August Block and a new project
This post may contain affiliate links which won’t change your price but will share a commission.Normally I am scrambling on the last day of the month to get it done. I’m to the point where I decide what fabrics to use by what is left of my batik bundle.
Here you see all the blocks so far. I didn’t put them in any special order but I can see that I will want to space the larger pieced blocks intermittently with the smaller pieced ones.
This morning I decided to go ahead and make my block for this month’s Aurifil August 2014 Designer of the month block – this month the designer is Michele Foster from Quilting Gallery.
Now that I have made the block and this post I can get back to this project I started yesterday…..now that I’m looking at it I think I should have used a different color to outline the reds.
I still had the photo open in Photoshop so I drew some yellow lines to see if that helped. I think it does so I might have to go over the stitching….no way will I un-stitch it!
Here are the beautiful fabrics from Island Batik called Seasons Greetings. Now I’m going to fix the poinsettia and then free-motion quilt this piece.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love being an Island Batik ambassador……just got word that a box of the new fall fabrics is coming my way!!
I haven’t forgotten my Tinker Tote, I’ll be finishing that soon!
Your batik blocks are really beautiful and harmonic!
Love the Batik blocks, great colors!!!
Such pretty batiks in that collection. I just love sewing with them because they handle so nicely and the colors are so wonderful.
I love that button block. Very pretty Christmas fabrics there.
I haven't had time to do my Aurifil block yet this month. I like the yellow too!
Beautiful Island Batiks and your talented sewing are a match made in heaven. Lovely blocks. Season's Greetings is such a pretty and classic Christmas colorway. Your Poinsettia is Perfect!
I love the batiks in the Aurifil blocks! The button almost looks like vintage mother-of-pearl! Great job. I may need to do mine in another colorway, using Island Batiks, too.
Yes, the yellow definitely helps. Pretty stuff!
