When we went to visit our friends over the weekend we had to make a stop at Expressions in Threads in LeClaire, IA to check out the store which just doubled in size. There were specials all week, I missed the batik sale on Friday but I picked up some fat quarters for $1.50 a piece and Bonnie Hunter’s book String Fling. If I have the book sitting around……maybe I will finally finish my Roll, Roll Cotton Boll mystery quilt that I started 4 years ago.
The fabrics on the left are batiks and on the right you can see some beautiful florals and tone on tones.
Today is my birthday and our sweet friends had a bag a goodies for me! Do you think they know I love batiks? I am going to have so much fun working with these beautiful fabrics!
Last year we went to a shop in Fulton, IL and she bought some neat candles that flicker and look real. I liked them but……spent my money next door at Calico Creations. Imagine my surprise when I found these in my birthday bag! She and her husband stopped at BOTH stores for gifts! We had a lot of fun and I think I gained 5 pounds from all the fantastic food they fixed!
When we got home yesterday afternoon I started playing with a new project and here is a little peek at it.
My plans for today include working on the applique and quilting of this neat piece that I made using my Berry Christmas batiks from Island Batik. I was doing a lot of yard work this past week and didn’t get much quilting done……it is raining today…..a perfect quilt day! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for Linky Tuesday.
Builder Bob is going to take me out to dinner tonight…..he is such a sweetie!
