Nyan Cat Quilt

Yesterday I finished up my second Nyan Cat quilt and it is a little different from the first Nyan Cat quilt that I made. I used almost all batik fabrics in it. I was commissioned by the creator of Nyan Cat, Chris Torres to make this quilt. He is planning on taking it to New York in December for a show he’ll have.

The piecing and free motion quilting was all done on my Vintage 15-91 Singer sewing machine.

This was so much fun to quilt, I used Superior Bottomline thread in the bobbin and changed the top thread to match the color of the fabric I was quilting. The batting is Warm & Natural cotton.

The batik I picked was a beautiful blend of the colors in the quilt.

I had to show a picture of the quilting on the back, this must be the free motion quilting done on the Nyan Cat’s face as I did long spikes trying to give it a furry look.

Label on Nyan Cat quilt

I also added a label that looks kind of cute. I printed it on treated fabric with my printer, put a backing on it, and then top-stitched it to one of the corners.

I wonder what the neighbors thought when they saw this hanging on the deck!!
