Blue intertwined batiks

Sometimes I can’t believe the way time seems to fly by! I didn’t plan on taking a little break from blogging but the weather has been beautiful and that means friends stopping by.

Blue intertwined batiks

Builder Bob is working on a remodel of a 100-year-old brick building and sometimes that means I have to go along and be his assistant. I wish I had taken photos of it before he started.

Anyway, when I have a chance to quilt I have been working on these batik blocks.

My daughter gave me a strip package of the blues last year for my birthday and also some 1/2-yard coordinating pieces.

I’m not usually a blue person but I saw this neat pattern by Cozy Quilt that used the strip tube ruler and I couldn’t resist making it. It is called Intertwined and I just love the way it is working up.

We still have the geese stopping by every day and the little babies are growing!

They were so busy eating bugs that I couldn’t get a picture with their heads up. Notice how protective mama is.

I hope your week has been great and does anyone else find it tougher to quilt when the weather is beautiful? I guess I should haul my sewing machine outside!

This is so beautiful Connie- adore the colours and of course the batiks,

  2. We have had such beautiful weather this year! The garden, yard and flower beds have called daily–I think we need a little rain so I have an excuse to stay in the house and quilt. My oldest granddaughter is getting married in October so I have to finish her wedding quilt soon. Love the blue batik quilt; it makes me think of the different blue wave lines in the river.

  3. Love the batik blues, batiks in any color really. SO much to do around the garden and house these days that it's hard to get any sewing done. That's why winter is so productive quilting wise I guess.

  4. Thanks for sharing! It is such a beautiful quilt. Love the pattern too. I really enjoy the geese and the babies. Wow are they growing.

  6. Your blue batik quilt is beautiful! Gorgeous colors! And yes, with the warmer weather, there is more to do outside and less time inside…but it is all good!

Oh my!!! Your blue batiks quilt is just gorgeous!!! I may have to give that pattern a try. I can't decide if I just love it because it is blues (my favorite color), or because it is batiks (my favorite fabric), or because of the pattern…. maybe it's all three!!!

Thanks for sharing your ducks – they look darling :*)

  16. Love the blue batik and the pattern. Wow, the babies have grown. I have been outside more too – you just can't pass on good weather. Planting flowers and vegies and lazing on the garden swing.

  17. Lovely pattern – all the movement and pretty colors. I know what you mean about time flying. The weather here has been so great for finishing up yard jobs that I've been on the computer about half of my usual time (and I didn't miss it much, either!).

  18. I like your new quilt project. It is an interesting pattern.
I don't think I've ever seen the goose chicks at that stage of growth before. Thanks for the photos.

  19. Wonderful project you are working on. Living by the river, I would have thought you loved blue!
I am finding it hard to get as much done as I'd like because of the weather also. I am doing more hand work this weekend.

  20. The batiks are just glorious! I'm not a blue person either, but that is gorgeous.

The babies are growing so quickly.
