Garden Strings Tutorial

Are you ready for another tutorial using the Strip Tube Ruler? I like fast and easy projects and this is one of them.

Don’t forget my Giveaway that is still going on for the Strip Tube Ruler sponsored by Quilting Lodge!

I have been having fun with the Strip Tube Ruler
and this is a 20 inch quilt or center piece made using old fabrics in my stash.

Vicki has these rulers in stock!

I looked and looked for different patterns using this ruler with something other than 2 1/2 inch strips and couldn’t find any. So I’ve been trying to come up with different things. I have lots of other ideas!

Garden Strings Tutorial

I cut 4 strips 1 1/2 wide for this project. Sew them into a strip.

Cut a 4 1/2 strip and sew it to your strips to make a tube.

I placed the ruler on the seam line – matching the 4 1/2 mark. Cut your blocks.

Sew together as shown. Each block measures 5 1/4 inch.

Here you can see 16 blocks sewn together for a 20 inch square.

I then added a little applique to add some color using my Sizzix Big Shot cutter.

I did a small meandering on my old Singer.

Looks pretty good on the table, of course the placemats don’t match 🙂

Do you see the little mini?? I was going to add it here but I think this post is long enough so tomorrow I’ll do one more Strip Tube Ruler post and show it plus the stack of things I didn’t get finished. I think this is a great ruler to add to anyone’s collection of tools.
